Description

The Royal Canadian Mint releases the 2015 Canada Silver Great Horned Owl; this new design is the final installment of four coins ‘Bird of Prey Series’. Available to only 1,000,000 of these limited-edition coins will be minted. This series is the successor of the popular Canadian Wildlife Series and continues to offer the widely desired silver coin.

From coast to coast, Canada’s vast territory is home to countless animal species that are as diverse as the landscape itself. Each of these species play a role in maintaining the ecosystem they inhabit, with a careful, natural balance struck between prey and predator. As Canada’s most common bird of prey, the great horned owl (Bubo virginianus) is a symbol of power and agility, with unique features that lend themselves beautifully to this engraved portrait.
